What Powers the Technological Upgrades of Large-Diameter Caliper Gauges
What Powers the Technological Upgrades of Large-Diameter Caliper Gauges?
When a caliper gauge is in operation, the pipe rotates and advances through the gauge, which measures the outer diameter of the pipe and calculates its external circumference. After entering the time required for one full rotation of the pipe, the measurement system can record the maximum diameter, minimum diameter, average diameter, and ovality within one revolution. The average circumference is then calculated based on the average diameter. If the outer diameter or ovality of the pipe exceeds the preset tolerance range, the audio-visual alarm will automatically alert the operator. At the same time, the LED display and the software interface will change the color of the out-of-tolerance measurements from green to red or yellow.
1. Spiral Pipe Specifications
Spiral pipes come in various specifications. For example:
Producing spiral steel pipes ranging from D273 to D426
Producing spiral steel pipes ranging from D219 to D426
Producing spiral steel pipes ranging from D325 to D820
Producing spiral steel pipes ranging from D529 to D1220
Each production unit requires one outer diameter caliper gauge.
Required diameter measurement accuracy: ±1.6 mm
Required circumference measurement accuracy: ±5 mm
2. Probe Arrangement Description
Since each production line handles pipes with a wide range of diameters, the caliper gauge is designed with two sets of probes mounted on linear guide rails. When switching pipe specifications, the probes can be repositioned to the preset measurement positions using servo motors to adapt to the new pipe dimensions.
When the operator switches the pipe specifications in the measurement software, the system drives the servo motors to move the ball screws, automatically adjusting the spacing between the probes. Once the adjustment is complete, the system automatically logs the distance without requiring manual calibration, allowing immediate measurement.
3. System Components and Notes
The complete system includes the caliper gauge (with a 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen), a digital display screen, an audio-visual alarm, a high-pressure centrifugal fan, and an air filtration device.
Technological Advancements in Large-Diameter Caliper Gauges
The caliper gauge, display screen, and high-pressure centrifugal fan are all installed directly on the production line. The gauge itself is fixedly mounted at the outlet of the production line.
The centrifugal fan is installed in an area with lower ambient temperature and minimal moisture and oxidation dust. It is equipped with an air filtration device. Clean, cool air is delivered from the fan to the caliper gauge through flexible ducts. The fan's 380V power supply is connected nearby, and its power is controlled via a leakage protection switch.
